| Q. How can I tell if I have
foundation problems? |
| |
| A: Here are a few things you can look for: |
| |
| Inside
your home |
-
Doors:
Are your doors hard to open or close? Do they rub against the
door frames? Do you see cracks at the frame corners? If your
doors were operating correctly and now have these symptoms, you
may have foundation problems.
-
Floors:
Do your floors have low
spots? Do you notice a leaning or sloping feeling in a room?
Try this experiment on hard floors: roll a ball across the
floor to see if it favors one direction or path. This behavior
can be caused by foundation problems.
-
Walls:
Have you noticed wrinkles in your wallpaper?
Have you noticed cracks in your sheetrock, or a separation
between the wall and moldings? These can be signs of foundation
problems.
- Windows:
Do your windows stick? Just like doors, if your windows rub
against the frames, or if you see cracks at the corners, you may
have foundation problems.
|
|
Outside your home |
- Bricks:
Have you noticed cracks in the mortar or broken bricks?
-
Foundation: Have you
noticed cracks in your slab?
-
Fascia Boards:
Look for gaps around your fascia
boards.
