Perma Pile is the original hydraulically pressed cylinder foundation repair system. It's the most reliable tried and proven system available. However, Perma Pile has a patent which means in order to participate using the Perma Pile System, a franchise must be purchased and royalties paid.

The Cablelock Foundation Repair System was devised as a way around the Perma Pile patent. Contractors found that they could avoid paying royalties by casting a cylinder with a hole in the center of it and pulling a cable through the hole. Cablelock begins with a smaller diameter cylinder which is pressed into the ground first with an eyebolt and a cable attached to it. The cable is then threaded through larger diamter cylinders, which are pressed into the ground behind the smaller cylinder.

Proponents of the CableLock System claim that a deeper driving depth is attained and that the cable keeps the integrity of the pile stack concentric as it's being driven into the ground. However, these claims are unprovable at best. The cold reality is that the process is basically the same as Perma Pile. Cable is not what prevents "misalignment" of the pile stack, What prevents misalignment is that the pile stack is being driven one cylinder at a time with a force of 25 tons combined with the weight of the house. With that much force, there is no way a cable can possibly make a difference.

However, there is one very big difference between CableLock and Perma Pile. That difference is price. CableLock is roughly twice the price of Perma Pile.
